Mastering the art

I can't believe I'm even contemplating this right now, but for the past couple weeks I have started to think seriously about getting another Master's.  I am quite drawn to the Religious Studies Master of Arts program in Bloomington.  My situation, both in regards to health and finances, will have to be much more solid before I can pursue such an endeavor, though.  My favorite part is the description of the thesis: "It is a relatively short work (about 60-90 pages) that shows research and writing ability."  Eek!  I think 43 pages is the longest I've ever done.  Not only that, but there is a language project that is another 60-90 pages!  Fun, fun, fun.  I'd probably select Latin and/or German since the majority of theology texts are written in those languages.  I don't know.  I sort of feel disappointed with the MLS, it hasn't gotten me where I wanted on its own.  If I add the second degree, I think that would make me more of a commodity either at a religious institution or in a large university system like Harvard or UC.  Like I said, it's just an idea at this point.

Speaking of those 43 pages, I recently realized anyone can read my Ball State Honors Thesis online.  Neato!

Current Mood: complacent complacent

Just so you know, Bloomington is clearly the place to be, as I am here. And everybody needs multiple Master's degrees. Screw the real world!

Wow, you're considering a SECOND masters degree... I don't even have a bachelors degree (although I am still considering going back and getting one in engineering!). I think if you want to and can, then go for it... but definitely after you get the health/finances under control.

I hope you're able to do so! Sounds like you guys also have to deal with the financial dilemmas of such a decision. Sucks, doesn't it? :(
