Various Musings

What benefits do Puerto Rico and Guam have for being U.S. protectorates in this day and age?  Wouldn't they rather sever those ties completely or petition to become full-fledged states?

Double-Stuf Oreos are evil in that they are delicious, fun to lick, and almost impossible to resist.

Reading is fundamental, right after food and shelter.  Just ask people from Mississippi and New Orleans.

The guy who plays "McSteamy" on Grey's Anatomy really is "man candy."  It's amazing.  I'm straight as an arrow and even I want to sleep with him.

True progress takes backbone and political will.  We seem to have neither.

Archery looks cool, I would like to learn how to do that.  I'd also like to learn to bowl properly.  I can shove the ball down the lane, but I'm mostly hoping for a straight line.

Lutherans can be a bit pompous and/or self-involved sometimes.  Jesus will tell the sheep they fed and clothed Him, gave Him shelter, and visited Him in prison -- this is what He wants from His children.  He will not tell them that they did a fine job of adhering to the Book of Concord, or praise them for regularly administering the Word and Sacraments to fellow believers, or commend them for going to traditional worship services every Sunday.

How hard would it be to convert to hydrogen fuel on a mass scale?

I want to buy a pinball machine someday.  Ideally, it would be a "Pinball Wizard" version based on The Who's Tommy.  Yes, it really does exist and I saw one in person once.

My thoughts

Puerto Rico and Guam: No taxes
Double Stuf: AMEN!
Reading: It's like oxygen for me and I feel so lost when I am not able to read a great book (like now when I am taking classes :-()
McSteamy: holy hotness! I totally agree with you!
Progress: our pride and need for power and control get in the way too much
Archery: I used to be involved in archery, it's a lot of fun
Lutherans: Baptists can be the exact same way (that's what church I was raised in)
Fuel: beats me, I got a 70% on my last chem test
Pinball: such a guy thing... kinda like my boyfriend and XBox games... don't get it

Re: My thoughts

Right, I knew that. Like I said, I am more interested in why they do stick around as unincorporated territories. What's the benefit of that status? Wouldn't Puerto Rico simply be its own country, free and clear, instead of as a commonwealth of the U.S.?

Archery: I used to be involved in archery, it's a lot of fun
Wow, I'll have to get you to teach me snowboarding and archery! :P

Pinball: such a guy thing... kinda like my boyfriend and XBox games... don't get it
Hey now, a couple girls in this thread have said they like pinball!

See, I don't get this whole thing with "McSteamy." I know I'm in the minority, but, although I will acknowledge that he is moderately attractive, I find his character to be such a creep that he is repellant.

I've tried to post this comment twice now and it keeps giving me an error message....but maybe 3rd times a charm.

Do you really want an answer to your hydrogen fuel question? I can go on for hours about alternative fuels, etc. I realize it makes me sound like a tree hugging freak, but oh well.

Sure, I'd like to know more about it! I just want to know how viable it is and if it's doable then what's holding us back.

McSteamy is all kinds of McHot, there's no getting around that -- even if he is more of a McSlut than anything else...
reading is SO fundamental. i get so sad when people tell me they don't read. but what can you do?
as for hydrogen fuel -- trying to make sure it's efficient and safe is the first priority right now -- and some of us are working on that...[i'm sure there are folks who already have some prototypes that work, but for whatever reason they're not sharing]...

Totally Random

Oreos (double-stuf or otherwise) are indeed evil

I took an archery class in college. It was fun but much harder than it looks.

Pinball rocks so hard. It's my favorite arcade game!
