Z22 and a Flashback

I ended up ordering a Palm Z22 from Amazon (along with season 9 of Stargate SG-1); handhelds have gotten quite cheap in recent years (especially since the trend of phasing them out in favor of smartphones has begun in earnest).  I thought about going straight to the smartphone, but I just feel like it isn't necessary at this point.  Rather than getting deeper into debt with a more expensive unit, along with a monthly payment, I decided to just go with what I need for now and think about upgrading in a year or two.  I'd rather pay a monthly fee for a highspeed internet connection than cell phone service right now.

While I was shopping for my dad yesterday afternoon, I saw the Atari Flashback 2 and had to pick it up!  This is just too freaking cool for school, peeps.  Classic!  I also picked up a relatively cheap VCR/DVD combo since my fancy 5-disc player is currently busted.  There's a place on my way to work with signs saying they do electronic repairs, so I may give them a call and see what it would cost to have them look at my unit and the basement TV (which has a flickering picture).  So, I finally splurged a little after being super-frugal for the last year or so.  What the heck, right?  They'll keep me entertained for a while and now I can go back to paying the bills.  Whee!

It's hard to believe an old-style Atari is back "in." Since you finally landed a full-time job that seems to be working out for you, I'd say you're entitled to a little splurge. Heck, I feel like I have a splurge coming if I just get my unemployment. How sad is that?

Hear, hear! I figure if an Atari can bring you happiness for 30 bucks, why not? Hope you get some resolution on that stuff soon.

I got the atari flashback 2 a few months back. I have never heard of half of the games that were on it, but man that thing is a total blast from the past. I can play missle command for hours.

Missile Command

Dude, I used to love Combat. The Flashback 2 even has the never-previously released Combat 2! We'll have to get in a few games of that or Missile Command next time I see you! :P

Palm trees and island breezes....

That looks like a cool PDA. I think you made a wise decision - why pay monthly for nearly the same thing you get from a one-time purchase.... Have fun setting up the new equipment. :)

By the way, what happened to your other post? I was going to comment when I got home, but it was gone. I guess I just have to put my two cents in here: You are a handsome guy. Don't let anyone tell you differently. My advise is if you don't try so hard to find the right girl, you'll find her sooner than you think.

Thank you kindly. I edited that posting later because I just felt a little pathetic about it all. So, I took it out but I appreciate your positive sentiments. *wry grin*

Oh, I will! It's nice to have some new gadgets. *thumbs up*

Dumbphone?

I did remember that you told me you'd decided to get a new PDA over a smartphone, but I got on a roll there ranting a bit about cell phone companies, so it's there for future reference.
