$41.01

My gas tank was pretty close to empty the other day, so I finally decided to fill it up.  I was washing the windshield and let it run until I heard the pump click off.  I walked over to check the screen and almost fainted: $41.01!  After suppressing my gag reflex, I reflected that at least we don't have it as bad as Europe or some other places.  Still, the urge to vomit was quite persistent...

Added note: I should mention that my Lumina actually does get pretty good mileage.  Since I live so close to Parkview and haven't done too much driving, I've only had to spend a few dollars here and there for the last couple months.  I finally decided to bite the bullet and fill it all the way up because it had finally gotten down to almost zero, plus I figure the price of gas probably isn't going to go down anytime soon!  So, I'm not mad about having a Lumina instead of a hybrid or something else.  This is more a commentary on the following equation: lack of money + increasing expenses = suckage!

know what you mean

Dude, its terrible. My wife and I have pondered buying the toyota prius, but the car looked a little too flimsy for my taste, with not top of the line crash test ratings also. But still, even my toyota carolla takes 31.00 to fill, and my wife's is $50.00. Guys here at work have trucks, BMWs, costing them $60 to $100 per tank! Terrible!

Re: know what you mean

I work at a gas station, and people with those huge trucks come in all the time having just filled up for a hundred bucks. I think that they're insane.

More insane, however, are the people who have RVs. What are they thinking?!

i heart my honda,

amy

Re: know what you mean

I would check out the Civic Hybrid. My brother has one and he likes it a lot.

I have an Echo and it's over $30.00 but that's because there isn't any gas under $3.00 a gallon in LA. The cheapest I've seen lately is $3.25.

*sigh* I remember back in the day in MD when gas was $1 a gallon. *sigh*

Re: 600

Yeah, I know. It helps that you have such a short commute. I actually have been banished from my hybrid. Since I only drive 6 miles to the train station every day, I take my husband's car (a Chrysler Seabring...that I hate...talk about a money pit!). He's all over for work, so it just makes more sense for him to drive it.

I have you beat. I filled up a couple of weeks ago when my car was on an 1/8 of a tank and it cost me $51! But then again, I also drive a SUV...

lumina

Also, if I remember how you drove when I was in the car with you, you probably go thorough gas pretty quickly. Although, nothing compares to Squeal's "stop 2 mm close to the car in front of you" at 80mph scare.

Ha, ha, ha -- that's funny! *deadpan stare* As I said, I've been trying to be conservative lately. And yes, I am certainly not as bad as squealnakedcatj and his antics!
