Book Meme

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

[Chaim said,] "You are getting worse by the second."
- Desecration: Antichrist Takes the Throne (LaHaye, Jenkins)

(Ack, what a terrible excerpt! Especially when jedibuttercup had such a cool one. Oh, well...)

How about "Here, you are echoing an XML declaring when the parser encounters the start of the document"? The J2EE Tutorial Second Edition. It was almost worse, but my phone manual doesn't have enough pages so I took the next closest.

Ha, ha! Actually, I think that sounds kind of cool. At least it has a few words more than 2 syllables!

"Mirabelle is a ripe, relative virgin, and her romantic life starts badly."

From the novella Shopgirl, by Steve Martin, which was hardly long enough to have 123 pages. It's been in my desk here at work since July.
