X-mas Musings

Happy birthday, Jesus!  Merry Christmas to everyone!

Speaking of birthdays, I want to be sure to say something to all the people who have one coming up:
  • Dec 25 -- Happy birthday, librarygal!
  • Dec 28 -- Happy b-day to wild14one!
  • Dec 29 -- Best wishes to jttttttt!
  • Dec 31 -- Much love to Rose on her special day!
  • Jan 1 -- Happy birthday to ccopperpot!
I know not everyone believes in Jesus or that salvation comes through Him.  However, I really do believe He is the ultimate Gift to the world!  A lot of people sometimes ask why Christians are "so judgmental" when it comes to issues like the afterlife.  In actuality, we believe that God is a perfect being surrounded by perfect beings (angels).  Why should He allow undoubtedly imperfect people into His presence?  Because He is Love, He allowed for there to be a way to come to Him.  We are ransomed by the blood of Jesus who was born, lived a sinless life, died, and rose again.  The point is that Jesus is not the lock on the doors of Heaven -- He is the Key!  I truly believe when he told Peter that he would be given the keys to the kingdom, Jesus was speaking of his Word and the sacraments.  He is indeed the Way, the Truth, and Life.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Re: Thanks

Thanks, you too! Hopefully, I can give you a b-day hug in person soon, or at least only slightly belatedly! :)

(Oy, I realized I hadn't picked a proper icon, then pasted the wrong comment! *facepalm* Sorry about that, hope I didn't clog up your inbox!)

Whoa, thanks for the present, man! I didn't see it coming. I never got your address or to make it to the Fort of Wayne to get you any of my holiday cookies, so maybe next time, if you can still be reached in decent time wherever you are by then! ;)

Though I do have to wonder about the whole angels being perfect thing, isn't/wasn't Satan an angel, and by falling and challenging God's reality/control, doesn't he show himself imperfect? ...Just thinking, don't take that question too seriously.

But thanks again, and Merry two-ish more hours of Christmas. :D

Two-ish more hours

We believe that angels had free will at one time, then they were "locked in" once they declared their ultimate allegiance. God didn't create evil, but allowed for the possibility through free well. Neither angels nor humans are preprogrammed robots, and some have made the choice to go away from God. It's interesting because the Bible talks about salvation for humankind, but not fallen angels. Ultimately, angels are servants of God and we are His heirs. Pretty cool, huh?

Whoa, thanks for the present, man! I didn't see it coming.
Hee, hee! Glad I could make your holiday a little more fun. I'll take those cookies next time I see you! :)
