LJ Life

Getting ready for bed, but I have been thinking for the last hour or so about LJ.  I feel like I need to stay more focused on what matters, and have been too distracted by this thing.  I have been cutting back a bit, and will continue to do so.  One thing I also think I need to do is trim my friends list a little.  I have gotten in touch with some really nice people via Livejournal, but feel like maybe I don't have much in common with some.  Others, I feel like we're LJ friends out of politeness.  I could be wrong, but that's not how I want to feel about this.  If I am going to write on here, I want people to read my stuff, and more importantly, I want to be interested in their writings.  A sense of reciprocity is quite important to me, however it may be perceived.

Anyway, I know how I have felt when I have been summarily removed from other people's flists!  So, I wanted to say something to explain where I'm coming from and to also encourage folks to keep commenting on public stuff if they so desire.  I daresay I will even occasionally go back to some people's LJs and leave a comment or two, assuming that's OK.  I just feel like I need to cut down on blogging, and I also don't want to get to the point where I feel "obligated" to read certain journals.  I've enjoyed "meeting" some people and wish them all the best.  On the flip side, please let me know if you don't particularly want to be LJ friends anymore.  I've friended a lot of people recently, and I realize others (older or newer) may be feeling the same way I am right now.  Respectful, but ready to part ways for the time being.  I will try not to take it personally, I just would rather not have other people feeling obligated to keep me around.  Life goes on, you know?  By the way, if you really want to discuss things (which I am happy to do), feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

I am indeed grateful for the people I've interacted with, and the times we've shared.  God's blessings, everybody!

Love the icon. I haven't commented much recently because I've been busy with school, we're closing on our new house next week, and we've got this wedding ceremony to plan. nah....I'm not very busy, am I??

But it's good to go back and rethink one's friends list. I hope that you'll still list me as one of your LJ friends because I really enjoy reading about you and I think you're darn cool. :D

hey!

:) i think it's good that you're re-prioritizing. This thing can be a little bit of an obsession! I hope the Baylor interview ROCKED THE HOUSE.

OK, man. Don't be a comment whore, be a human interaction whore! ...That sounds odd....

Anyway, it's a good idea. Enjoy real life!

You know you can always filter people off your default friends page, don't you? I have several people and communities on my friends list that I like to read when I get the chance, but they just post too often for me to keep up with. If you don't know how to do this, let me know, and I'll post directions...

I kind of feel ya' on the LJ thing. I always have other things I need to do when I sit down at my computer. I might limit myself to LJ twice a week. It's just so hard not to peek at friends page while I'm logged on to check my email.

btw - when and where is the next fw fencing club meeting? i'm gonna tell my brother to go.

Tell me about it! That's why I'm trying to pull back a bit, though.

We'll be at the community center downtown from 6:30 PM - 9 PM on Monday. Feel free to stop by and say hello! We will probably go to Applebee's or something at 9:00, don't know if you and/or your brother would want to stick around that long. You are certainly welcome to join us, though! :)

I certainly enjoy reading your LJ. I can certainly understand the urging to disconnect yourself from a computer screen. I'd like to stay on your friends list if you'll have me. I do enjoy the interesting topics you post on here. I like this medium of expressionn because I was never used to a paper journal. Best of luck whatever you decide.

LJ is certainly an intriguing time-stealer. I struggle with this very issue, myself.

Am I at risk?

Well, you know me. Don't keep up regularly, nor do I have the interest in responding to certain subjects. Alternatively, I've got lots to say about others.

In catching up on your journal today (I'm almost current), I haven't read much about temporary jobs or is that not in the picture at this point? Obviously, it looks like Baylor went well and I hope you receive equal good progress from MIT. Just curious when we might be completing that "second move." Keep me posted man :D
