Comfortableness

I have no idea why, but I am totally awake this morning.  I was up late last night, surfing some random LJs in Ft Wayne and Indy, and I also chatted online with hellokitty138.  I hadn't been drinking soda pop for a while but bought some yesterday, so I think my body felt an extra jolt from the caffeine! *shrug*  Anyway, I left a few comments on people's journals and have since been friended by frogs_n_turtles, jesc, playnejayne2002, and youarecrazie -- yay!!!  Always fun to get to know new people, and jesc already left a thoughtful comment on my Demonic entry.  Very cool, I look forward to getting to know some more new folks.  It's about the only new year's resolution I stuck with, but I am still occasionally trying to reach outside my usual "comfort zone" and meet new people.  Even if it's just online, that's something.  Plus, doing so eventually allowed me to meet aeswyr, beckatsila, and wild14one in person!  I believe I currently have (*pauses to count*) eighteen people on my flist that I had never met in person before (including those three whom I now have)!  Shweet.

[EDIT: Now welcoming saffirebleu, miz_hollywood, and sauoceangirly!  That makes twenty-one previously unknowns; I'm on a veritable roll!]

Hmm, I'm going to have to update my Who's Who gallery pretty soon!  Hee, hee.

List six songs (not in any particular order) that you are currently digging then tag 6 of your friends to do the same.
"Got To Give It Up (remix)" -- Aaliyah
"The Girl I Love" -- Glad (Gershwin album)
"Pts.Of.Athrty" -- Linkin Park
"This Love" -- Maroon 5
"Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart" -- Stone Temple Pilots
"It's Goin' Down" -- X-Ecutioners f/ Mike Shinoda and Mr. Hahn

Sheesh, it's been a while since I've been able to afford new music!  Oh, let's see who's actually reading this.  I pick: aeswyr, belgo_girl, krycek_chick, mudstang94, phantomrain, and schnibbles!

FINE!! Be that way! I won't tell you six of my current favorite songs... :P Just kidding... I know you could only pick six people *goes off to cry in a corner* ^_^

I'm glad you're making some new friends... I hardly have any friends down here and it makes me sad sometimes (only two that I would consider inviting over and they both went back to their respective home states for the summer break). I have no idea how to meet people. And I'm a little scared of doing what you've been doing (checking people out in the lj things for certain areas) because, well, Savannah is a scary place!

Aww... *pats* Frankly, if any of these people see this and choose to do the meme within a week's time, I will be super-impressed! I haven't gotten many comments or seen many postings by them recently. Just a little incentive, I suppose. ;)

Ha, ha! Well, you might want to try searching people by interest rather than location. For instance, I met leoetiquette through lutherans and lola_joan through libraries. (Wow, once I started to type that out, I realized how many L's there were!) You know, join a couple communities with people who have similar interests and see if anybody looks like they're worth friending. It can have pros and cons, as evidenced by my recent "Threatened" posting, but it's usually a fun experience. Hopefully, you can practice using a little more tact than I have and avoid making enemies! :P

Nice to see someone that I don't know moving back to Fort Wayne, or as we call it, Fort Whack. Anyway, I see you're a religious studies major...rock on. I'm hoping to become a camp director as soon as I graduate so that should be fun. I'm currently working at a camp in Northern Indiana and I love it. What do you want to do with your religious studies degree? Just curious

Fort Whack

Hi! I friended you back. :)

Well, you may have seen that I recently got my Master's in Library Science. So, a good way to combine those degrees would be to work at a Christian college or seminary. As a matter of fact, I just heard from Concordia Irvine (Lutheran) and Baylor University (Baptist) this past week. I also got pretty far in an interview process for Calvin College (Christian Reformed), but they ended up going with someone else. :( So, that's the idea!

Don't suppose you've heard of Camp Lutherhaven? I had band camp there once, way back when. Good luck on your studies! :)

I've just noticed that you've got your degree from SLIS at IUPUI; my husband did his SLIS Master's at IU. Did you find a job in Fort Wayne or are you still looking?

Also, I think it's neat that you fence! I went to a tiny school up in Appleton, Wisconsin (Lawrence U. - which, since you're probably Lutheran, you may have heard of as there are lots of Lutherans up there). We had a great fencing team (for a small school, anyhow) and I was friends with a bunch of the team members.

SLIS

Hi! *waves* I added you to my friends list, welcome!

I've just noticed that you've got your degree from SLIS at IUPUI; my husband did his SLIS Master's at IU.
No way! I finished in August 2004; anyone I might know? I guess you're saying he got it in Bloomington, so probably not. That's still pretty funny, though! I have been searching for employment, but unfortunately things have not gone as planned. I even tried to get a mall job down here, and didn't! Plus, everyone I knew from school is finishing up and moving on. The lack of employment, along with having family and friends up in Ft Wayne, convinced me to make a transition up there for at least a while. I got pretty far in the interview process at Calvin College, and I am currently talking with Baylor (Texas) and Concordia Irvine (California). So, I'm trying to stay optimistic!

It's a little eerie how small the world can be sometimes. My grandmother lives in Appleton! When my grandfather retired as a parish pastor, he went to work for AAL (now Thrivent Financial) for a few years. He passed away a few years ago, but Grandma is still up there. I went to the public library a couple times, and know that I passed by Lawrence while in town! Too funny. :)
